Orange Recipe
One of our most popular
fruits, oranges are usually associated with vitamin C, and with good reason.
One medium-sized orange provides about the recommended daily minimum of the
vitamin. As an antioxidant, vitamin C protects against cell damage by the
molecules known as free radicals, and in so doing, may reduce the risk of
certain cancers, heart attacks, strokes, and other diseases. |

Oranges also contain rut in,
hesperidins, and other bioflavonoids, plant pigments that act as
antioxidants as well, and may help prevent or retard tumour growth. In
addition, they have beta carotene, thiamin, folate, and potassium. And the
membranes between the segments of the fresh fruit provide a good amount of
pectin, a soluble dietary fibre that helps control blood cholesterol levels. |
